Then God by ARCHER WOODSTOCK
Many times, in our lives we see ourselves hitting that personal brick wall, stopping all our human effort and we sit and wonder “what next?” … and then God lovingly and so very obviously removes the wall and shows us how and where He would have us go. Such has been the events of our lives in just the last five months.
We were coming to
the end of an assignment as interim pastor for a church in Illinois. Com- ing down one morning to have coffee with my wife, Sandy, she looked at me and told me she believed the Lord would have us look to Him for a church to become the pastor. We prayed and felt God leading us to resign from the mission we were serv- ing and began to seek our next “adventure.” When nothing opened we began to wonder if we had done the right thing.
… and then God. We had been in Lustre, Mon-
tana, as a candidate over a year ago. At that time, we did not have the peace of God that we should accept that lovely church. As we were coming home, we drove through Wolf Point, Montana. We had heard about Community Bible Church in Wolf Point while attending the FEBC Conference in 2019. Something captured my heart and I began to pray for the church and the folks there.
When the Fellowship Focus magazine arrived in
the spring, Sandy came running into the kitchen holding it as she said, “you have to call these folks. God wants us to go to Wolf Point.” We called, went to speak and meet the folks, and fell in love with the potential for the ministry.
We had two months left on our contract to serve
in Illinois. Contacting the director, I asked him if it would be possible for me to give 30 days notice and end my contract at the end of June. The answer I received was, “No, there was not anyone available to cover July for me.”
… and then God. Two days later, I received notice that my contract would end on the last day
of June and the organization was praying that our ministry in Montana would be a fruitful one.
As we got ready to pack up and move out, I

contacted a rental truck company. We needed a large truck and a trailer to pull our little Ford. The agent got on the computer, put in all the pertinent data, and told me it would cost $3,800 — that was before fuel, food, and lodging. We did not book the rental that day. Instead, we went home and began to pray, “Lord you know I don’t have that mon- ey. What shall we do?”
… and then God. On
Friday morning, I went to my study for my prayer time. As I prayed, God seemed to say,
“Try the other truck rental company.” I argued with Him a while — how would God know that all truck rentals are basically the same? The Spirit continued within my heart, and I began to search the internet. When the $2100 figure came up on the screen, tears came to my eyes as I rejoiced at what the Lord had done. What a great God we serve!
Now, we have served God over three weeks in
Wolf Point. Pray for us that, through the power of God, we will be salt and light as we minister with God’s family at Community Bible Church. "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world" (Acts 15:18, kjv).
