You Can't Silence a Global Partner's Voice!

by ROGER REIMER

In our church, we have been going through the Book of Acts and Dr. Luke’s account of those early Christ followers. I’ve been especially interested at the various experiences the apostle Paul had during his mission- ary journeys. Talk about being on the move, being beaten, surviving, restored and keeping on. Even from the confines of the prisons, he was able to have joy and write letters of encouragement to his friends and us today! An incredible example of an authentic Global Partner who didn’t let his circumstances silence his voice.

Just a couple of weeks ago, we watched the me-

morial service of a long time missionary colleague, who just passed away during a very active ministry throughout South America and in some of the most re- mote communities around the world. What caught my attention during the service were the comments from his oldest son who said, “Satan thinks that he has won today. He claims responsibility for taking Larry off the mission field and off the battlefield but he is greatly mistaken. He just activated thousands of us who will answer the call to take the message of the gospel to

those who need to hear it.” I wanted to be among those who would renew their commitment to be an active Christ following Global Partner.

The apostle Paul viewed his confinement in prison

like this in his letter to the Philippians, “I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has re- ally served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ” (Phil. 1:12-13).

Our current environment can be viewed as a very

restricting time or we can look for opportunities to reflect on our faith and take advantage of our cir- cumstances. The apostle Paul reflected his faith with attitudes of optimism and joy by way of his person- al testimony and writing words of encouragement. That’s why I’m writing this article. You can be that kind of Global Partner as well. Think about that.

Roger Reimer grew up in the FEBC. He served as a Global Partner for 40 years. Now, he is the chair of the Commis- sion on Global Partnerships within the FEBC.
