A Congregational Challenge: Spiritual Resolutions
by REV. JIM JANOFSKI
As part of our vision to provide helpful resources through this publication, we have been asking our FEBC pastors what tools they use. Recently, Rev. Jim Janofski of Rand- ville Bible Church (Randville, MI) shared the following
21 Spiritual Resolutions for 2021:
1. I will begin my day by surrendering to the Lord, telling Him of my love for Him, my desire to serve Him, and please Him.
2. I will plan to spend daily time in fellowship alone with the Lord, in His Word and prayer, and to walk daily in the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. I will ask the Lord to schedule my day and to arrange my priorities to match His will and priorities for my life.
4. I will make an effort to systematically read and study God’s Word; in the process I will seek to claim His promises, obey His commands, and seek ways to be pleasing to Him by my actions.
5. I will ask the Lord to guide me in prayer, and I will faithfully pray for those around me, their needs, and their growth.
6. I will daily seek to rely more fully upon Christ, and rejoice even in the trials and testing of life, realizing that He uses these to help me grow and mature in my walk with Him.
7. I will seek to encourage others to grow in Christ by my Christian example, words, and actions, and presence.
8. I will seek to be faithful in my local church involvement, both for my own growth as well as for the edification and encouragement of others.
9. I will seek to identify my spiritual gifts and talents, and use these to the fullest in Christ’s service for the edification and spiritual growth and well-being of the Body of Christ.
10. I will review and analyze my talents, hobbies, and interests; and dedicate these to the Lord for His service and to reach others for Christ.
11. I will evaluate my giving and the priorities of life that my giving patterns reflect, and make the adjustments desired by the Lord.
12. I will seek to follow the Lord’s will in all of my actions. 13. I will actively pray for opportunities to share Christ with those in my network of influence. 14. I will actively pray for the salvation of those the Lord lays on my heart, and brings to mind or into my path.
15. I will seek to cultivate a thankful heart, always looking for ways to praise the Lord for his blessings and gifts to me and those around me.
16. In my daily work I will seek to work as to the Lord, realizing that the quality of my work reflects upon Christ. 17. I will seek to always remember 2 Corinthians 5:20, which reminds me that I am an ambassador for Christ. 18. I will seek opportunities to grow and mature in Christ. 19. I will take an active role in praying for and supporting missions. 20. I will reach out to others in my church family and seek to encourage them. 21. I will seek to do all of my activities to the glory of God (Col. 3:17).
