Resources: Elder Team Assessment

by KEVIN STONE, PRESIDENT We are continuing a series of articles highlighting the resources that have been

developed as part of our Vision Statement: “Strengthening our churches with timely resources that strengthen their leaders.”

This resource is for elders to periodically review how they are doing bo The assessment is divided into three main areas:

Character – the spiritual element of ministry, assessi g inte commitment

• Chemistry – the social aspect of ministry, as- sessing the fit and brotherhood of the team

• Competence – the skill component of ministry, assessing capacity for ministry and shepherding

When using the Elder Team Assessment, each elder encouraged to assess seven traits from each of th se three areas. The assessment is performed from wo per spectives: How the elder is perform- ing individually, and how the team of elders is performing collectively.

sessment, each elder iis each of these three

carefully consider the health of their team, to discuss openly what healthy leadership entails, and to consider whether improvement is needed.
