communities. A proposed bill in the Pennsylvania legislature would require buyers to receive the resale documents again at the settlement table, and “sign-off” on them. CAI’s PA-Legislative Action Committee (LAC) believes this is redundant and will delay each closing. The LAC is engaged to influence the outcome of this proposed legislation, but state legislators still hear from buyers who “were never told” they live in a community association. The more property managers and associations provide complete and timely information and the more we take the time to educate our buyers, sellers and real estate agents, the fewer laws and regulations will be imposed on our industry by the state.

Thanks to Tony Campisi and to his counterpart, Mike McGee at PAR, CAI members and Realtors® are collaborating to make everyone’s job as easy as possible. Please make

your best effort every day to help our Realtor® colleagues in this regard.

CAI and your PA LAC are here to help all CAI members – property owners, board members and leaders, property managers, business partners – and to advocate

CAI’s positions on matters that affect our community associations. When called upon, please support your PA LAC with a financial donation, as well as volunteering to travel to Harrisburg, contact your legislators, or organize a campaign to help persuade your elected officials on matters important to our industry. Most importantly, PA LAC must have a reliable source of funds to pay our very limited expenses such as our lobbyist who advocates on behalf of your community with legislators in Harrisburg. Every association, no matter how large or small is encouraged to contribute at least a buck per door per year. Without

this financial support, bills such as the resale certificate fee limitation will become law.
