Silver Linings Uncertainty.
That’s been the name of the game since early 2020 when the global pandemic roared its ugly head. Businesses were closed. Mass gatherings were canceled. Economic activity dried up. And Zoom became our only way to see each other.
I know we’re all sick of talking about it. However, there are silver linings in almost every crisis. At least, that’s what we learned from a recent panel discussion during the chapter’s Fall Managers Symposium, which was not held on Zoom on October 6th.
The panel consisted of Marc Levinson, CMCA, AMS, general manager of The Philadelphian Condominium, Rosy Brophy, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, a portfolio manager with Access Property Management, Cathleen Dunn, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, community manager at A Pocono Country Place Community Association, and Jeff Krimstock, CMCA, AMS, president of Cobrin Properties.
Without a doubt, this was the most impactful education session this chapter has hosted since the start of the pandemic. For more than an hour, this panel, moderated by Tom Willis, CMCA, AMS, PCAM from Association Bridge, LLC, poured out their feelings, emotions, and lessons learned from the most challenging period in our lives.
From a clinic that vaccinated 900 residents of The Philadelphian in one day, to Rosy’s board president who sent out daily messages of hope to the residents of one community, these four community association managers put on full display the silver linings that have emerged from this pandemic.
• The increase in attendance at virtual meetings.
• The ability of managers to have dinner with their families and still make the annual meeting held via Zoom.

DIRECTOR’SREPORT
• The coming together of staff and homeowners to care for their communities.
• And the solemn togetherness, even while apart, to celebrate the lives of those lost on staff or among neighbors.
Your communities have achieved remarkable things during an incredibly challenging time. Those are the silver linings that shine a light even in the darkest of days.
For that, we give thanks.
