“The electric construction equipment market depends not just on the development of the technology itself, but on a contractor’s willingness to pilot, rent and streamline that equipment too. It’s thrilling to be at the crux of both positions and be a part of that push for a lower carbon jobsite.”

– Emi LaFountain, regional sustainability manager, Turner Construction

goals along with doing our part to provide environmentally friendly solutions in the construction equipment realm,” said Sun- belt Product Line Manager Jenny Pratt. “Our customers will be able to operate outside of normal working hours and in applica- tions where its diesel counterpart would not be suitable. Tis allows for increased productivity and quicker job completion. ” According to Emi LaFountain, Turner

BY BRIAN MELLO, AGC OF CALIFORNIA VP Brian Mello

AGC of California is excited to announce the formation of its Sustainability Task Force. This task force is a crucial step toward identifying the positive role our industry can play in ad- dressing sustainability, and climate change. The Sustainability Task Force will focus on aligning a shared vision and mission, ensuring that all members are working towards com- mon goals. Key discussion points will include

defining AGC of California advocacy efforts to influence sustainable practices within the industry, brainstorming practical solutions to improve sustainability across all aspects of construction, and developing a com- prehensive Sustainability Task Force paper. This foundational document will clearly state the short-term and long-term goals of the association as they relate to climate change, sustainability, industry regulations, and the specific needs and challenges of California. Steve Rule, vice president and construction executive at Turner

Construction and AGC of California’s 2024 President, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “The sustainability task force is our first step toward the goal of leading our industry toward real climate change solutions. My hope is the task force will develop a common mission and vision for our association to use as we consider the short-term and long- term ramifications of new legislation and regulations related to sustain- ability and climate change.” The task force will comprise 15-20 dedicated individuals from mem-

ber companies who are passionate about making a positive impact and driving our industry toward sustainable solutions. Their expertise and commitment will be crucial as we work together for a more environmen- tally friendly state. The launch of the Sustainability Task Force reflects AGC of Cali-

fornia’s unwavering commitment to leading the construction industry toward a more sustainable future. If you would like to join the Sustainability Task Force, visit https://www.agc-ca.org/resources/advocacy/advocacy-resources/.
