Alstroemeria ‘GREEN CROWN’
Esmeralda Farms Judges collectively praised ‘Green Crown’ for its uniqueness and consumer appeal. “It’s hard to believe it’s an alstroemeria,” said judge Red Kennicott, AAF, of Kennicott Brothers Company. “It’s going to turn customers’ heads. And they’ll love its vase life.” Palenzuela admired the “enchanting” variegated green petals “that opened uniformly on every stem.” Judge Lacee Bilke, AAF, CFD, OCF, OACF, PFCI, of Madeline’s Flowers saw it as a substitute for ‘Green Trick’ dianthus or small hydrangeas. “It off ers the same fullness,” she said. “I’d love to use this in Christmas designs with peonies and pepper berries.”

RANUNCULUS
Ecoroses Staton awarded ‘Cloni Success Madame’ high marks for its marketable color. “Blush is classic for weddings,” he said. “And there aren’t many ranunculus that come this big. It would be in high demand.” In addition to garden-style wedding arrangements, Bilke envisions using this variety in prom work. “Girls go all out for prom in Edmond,” she said of her hometown. “One of the local boutiques sells gowns for $1,000. Customers think nothing of spending $150 on a bouquet with premium fl owers like this.”
