With Halloween behind us, let the Holiday Season
many American circuses, November
means winding up yet another season in American circus history. However, for a few specialty circuses, their season is
only beginning! Cirque Dreams Holidaze, with multiple units on the road,
will be touring 14 states this month from Florida, Georgia, and Texas, to Indiana, Illinois, and Kansas; and from North

Circus Musica’s Holiday Wonderland is presently traveling around Canadian provinces, but will visit two U.S. cities this month – Duluth (MN) November 23 and Burnsville (MN) November 24. Cirque Mechanics will present Yuletide Factory in the New Victory Theater in New

an extraordinarily diverse cast of international artists: Cartoon Poodles presented by native Chileans Rafael and Isabel Abuhadbu; The Flying Poemas from Argentina who also
double on the Russian swing; Alex Petrov, a third generation Bulgarian circus artist as the Upside-Down Walker with his wife performing on the lyra; Zsilak Trio Jugglers from Hungary; slack wire artist Mihret Mekonnen from Ethiopia; contortionist Kalle Pikkuharju from Finland; comedy
pickpocket artist Michael Halvarson from Sweden; Americans Jesse Highley, Neal Skoy, and Robert Ryan as water-spitting Human Fountains; and acrobat Antoly Brazzan on the rotating
wheel, all under the direction of Director/Choreographer Shanda Sawyer.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey kicks of the month
in Allentown (PA), followed by weekend-only performances in Albany (NY) November 8-11 and Manchester (NH) November 17. The Greatest Show on Earth will then close out its 2024, The show will then take a six-week hiatus before opening the 26 OABA ShowTime Magazine • NOVEMBER 2024
Universoul Circus is in Detroit (MI) until November 24, when it also closes out its 2024 season. Cirque du Soleil has
only one show currently playing in the country appearing at Santa Monica Pier
international Cirque du Soleil production in 1987. Venardos Circus plays Dawsonville (GA) November 1-10 and Huntsville (AL) November 14-24. Then it’s on to Winter Garden (FL) November 27 thru December 1 which also closes out its 2024 season. Garden Bros. Nuclear Circus is spending the entire month of November traversing Florida: Tampa November 1-3; St. Petersburg November 7-11; Ft. Lauderdale November 14-17; and Miami November 21 thru the end of the month. Meanwhile, Carden International Circus will start the weeks before opening in Hammond (IN) November 29. Several smaller and mini circuses are performing throughout the country during November. Omnium: The Bold Circus will be hopscotching New York state this month with engagements in Schenectady November 1, Peekskill November 3, and Queens November 8- 10. Afrique en Cirque will be in Flushing (NY) November 3 and Loomis Bros. Circus will tour the Florida Victoria
Circus will play Ft. Myers (FL) November 1-17 and Piccolo Zoppe Circus is in Little Rock (AR) November 22 thru December 1. Additionally, Dusty’s All-Star Circus will travel to Foley (AL) November 1-2, then move to Sarasota (FL) November 8-10. Billy Martin’s Cole All Star Circus visits primarily in high school gyms. The Circus Ring of Fame
inductees: Elvin Bale for his trapeze daredevilry; the Vazquez Family, producers of Circo Hermanos Vazquez and FL!P; the late Franco Dragone who played an instrumental creative role in Cirque du Soleil’s nascent years; Animal Partners, honoring
their collective contributions to the circus; and Master Coach Lu Yi from the San Francisco Circus Center as Coach of the Year. In youth circus happenings, students from the Circus
Arts Conservatory (CAC) in Sarasota (FL) will performing at the Closing Party of Sarasota Rising: Living Arts Festival November 17. CAC is also teaming up with Nik Wallenda to present a holiday performance of Wonderland: Illuminate
hit Johnny Rockett and Ringmaster Ty McFarlan. Circus Juventas in St. Paul (MN) will host JanGala: A Night of Wonder and Generosity as its annual fundraiser. Sponsorships
range from a $200 Spotlight donation to a high-roller’s Platinum Sponsorship priced at $10K.
