Animal Legislation Update by Vanessa Gagne,

By now as this is being read, the federal legislation session has ended, and the elections have most likely already happened. As we gear up for a congressional break, a transition of power, and the beginning of a new legislative session, let us  policy landscapes, forge relationships with incoming leaders, and articulate our objectives as industry experts. prevention is worth a pound of cure; by staying informed and building relationships we have a better chance of being effective when needed. Closely monitor the election results, changes in

committee leadership, and shifts in party control. Establish open lines of communication with new legislators, their staff, or other key stakeholders. Arguments should be bipartisan so that they resonate with a diverse set of policymakers. Focus  broadly shared goals across our industry. Collaborate with like-minded organizations to amplify our voices. Diverse coalitions demonstrate broad support and can be particularly  issues. That’s what our big networking events are for – sharing

ideas and meeting people who can get things done. Be proactive by offering solutions to our known problems and seek opportunities for our issues to be part of the incoming leadership’s early wins. Prepare for hearings now. Develop a  to champion your cause. In addition to that, make sure those materials are accessible to anyone wanting to meet with leg- islators. Getting things passed in one part of the country may help set precedent and get the same thing passed elsewhere. The carnival industry is one of the best equipped to be

prepared for navigating this impending transition, no matter who wins because we are so adaptable. Our unique business model is often misunderstood by policymakers.
