The 2025 SIR Foundation Leader in Innovation Award was granted to four individuals this year in recognition of their work to develop the IR residency: John A. Kaufman, MD, MS, FSIR; Jeanne M. LaBerge, MD, FSIR; M. Victoria Marx, MD, FSIR; and Matthew A. Mauro, MD, FSIR. To learn more about their accomplishments, see pg. 23.


SIR presented the SIR Gold Medal to Yasuaki Arai, MD, FSIR 1 ; Michael C Brunner, MD, FSIR 2 ; and Arina van Breda, MD, FSIR.


Alongside the plenary and SIR Foundation award sessions, many members were celebrated for their achievements and contributions to the fi eld of IR throughout SIR 2025.


Maureen P. Kohi, MD, FSIR, received the Women in IR Champion Award during the WIR luncheon 3 .


Authors and reviewers were honored during the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology awards ceremony 4 .


Following the awards ceremony, Lindsay Machan, MD, FSIR, delivered the 2025 Charles T. Dotter Lecture. Innovating is a lot harder these days— but it’s still possible if you know where to look, according to Dr. Machan 5 .
