nterior community lighting systems come 3 common interior lights: Incandescent,
and LED technology. Understanding what your community has is critical to maintaining full functionality of your system and helping troubleshoot issues. In Part 2 we will explore exterior lighting and control systems.
Lightbulb colors range fromsoft white to daylight, according to preference.
Light color
The color of a lightbulb can vary from soft white to daylight. Each community will have a preference. The trick is to keep
everything consistent and knowing how to determine what color a community prefers. These are often represented by a Kelvin scale.
The trick is consistency.
Sof t White Most packaging will say “soft white” but the bulb itself will be referenced by 2700 K PROS – Very common for interior lighting.
Bright White Some manufactures refer to this as a cool white. This bulb is 3000K PROS – Good for patio/porch lights although some communities still prefer soft white for everything.
Daylight This is a very bright white bulb in the 5000K range. PROS – Found more commonly in security areas.
