LB:My students throughout the years changed me in a profound way. I was able to listen to their experiences and connect with the things we had in common, but also recognize the things about their journey that differed from mine. One student who greatly inspired me was a DACA recipient who came to the United States at two years old. He was able to attend Tulsa Community College on a special scholarship for undocumented students, as he was ineligible for Federal Pell Grants or student loans. He had to work very hard and plan for each step of his educational journey. He is currently working on his CPA certification, and I’m so proud of his accomplishments despite the odds. Many students patiently taught me how to listen to and validate other perspectives and experiences through the years.

OSCPA: Describe your greatest achievement in your community and profession.

LB: I believe my greatest accomplishment is the network of relationships I’ve fostered and developed throughout the years,

whether it be related to my work at CCK Strategies, colleagues and students from my time as a professor at Tulsa Community College or my family and dear friends. People are my priority and I find myself most passionate when I am working in a role or on a project that will impact the quality of life of the people around me.

OSCPA: Where do you see your career in five years? What’s next on your list of accomplishments?

LB: I am currently transitioning from my role as client advisory services divi- sion leader to managing director. Tis shift will allow me to focus on business development and serving my clients with tax strategy, advisory services and any other accounting needs they may have. I will also continue to be involved in the strategic business transformation required to move to the subscrip- tion-based client advisory services model and build out our CFO con- sulting product line and deliverables. I also plan to intentionally work with my co-workers at CCK with coaching and development, and I particularly want to focus on building up women leaders in the firm. Alongside those efforts, I want to get more involved in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion both inside and outside the firm.
