D ANNUAL THANK YOU

CONTEST SPONSORS

manipulated images (such as light/color balance and cropping) are allowed in the other categories, however, this category will exclusively showcase digital manipulation. Entries must include the image before and after alteration.

All Creatures Great & Small: Insects, Birds, Fish, Mammals … if you have a picture of a wild or domesticated member of the great animal kingdom, enter it in this category.

Uniquely Missouri: What do you love about our Show Me State? Show us through your images of people, places, things and events that are unique to Missouri.

How to Enter

All entries must be digital photos that must be sent by email to Melissa Albertson (melissa@modental.org). Images must be 300 dpi, and not less than a minimum size of 8” by 10”. This high-quality submission will ensure pixilation doesn’t occur when used in print. If submitting multiple entries, please associate a file number/ category name with each submission. Photos must have been taken since January 1, 2012.

Each photographer must submit the following biographical information: Full Name, Home Address, Practice Address, Practice Type. Biographical information will be used for administrative purposes only and will be excluded from the judges during the selection of winners.

Each photo must have submitted with it the following details: Desired Contest Category; Photo Title; Brief Description (explaining what it shows, when and where it was taken).

Winning entrants will be required to submit a photograph of themselves and more detailed biographical information for a short article in the Focus. MDA Staff will contact winners at a later date to request this information. For any questions, contact Melissa Albertson at the MDA and visit www.modental.org/photocontest for details and to see last year’s entries and winners.

THE FINE PRINT

The contest is free to enter and open to any Missouri Dental Association member, including student members. The member submitting the entry must be the sole owner of the copyright of the image(s) submitted. Photos will be credited to the member named in the entry form.

Members may submit one entry per category, for a total of six entries per member.

Photos may be submitted in color or black and white, but photo manipu- lation beyond basic editing (such as light/color balance and cropping) is discouraged. If you do manipulate your photo, please note the digital techniques used in the description of your photo.

Photos must have been taken since January 1, 2012. Photos may be vertical or horizontal in orientation. Note: If a winning photo’s orientation needs to be cropped to fit the Focus cover, the uncropped version will be placed inside the issue.

Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs; however, winning entries may be selected for use in other Missouri Dental Association com- munications (print, website, social media), without any fee or other form of compensation. Winners agree to have their photograph used on the cover of the MDA Focus magazine (issue date selected will be determined by MDA staff). In the event that ownership of any photograph submit- ted to the MDA is contested in any manner, the MDA retains the right to disqualify that photograph from the contest.
