Planting the right tree, in the right place, the right way, at the right time of the year is the beginning of tree care. Your Certified Arborist Hero is integral to this selection process. Unfortunately, most of the time, the Certified Arborist is brought on site after many years of frustration of the wrong tree, in the wrong place, planted the wrong way, not maintained properly and our Hero is then asked or told, “We need you to fix this.” Many associations are over planted with trees. Your Certified Arborist Hero can be a voice to of reason to say when you should not replace the tree; there are too many trees in the area; or why continue with the wrong tree and wrong location. Experienced property managers start the integration of board of directors, property manager, landscaper and Certified Arborist Hero right away as they know the many benefits of the relationships.
Is a permit required to remove a tree? What is the municipal tree ordinance? Is a new tree required? There are many tree species that require regular ongoing annual care, and trees that require less care. What trees are not allowed to be planted in a municipality? Your Certified Arborist Hero will know and help with the process.
Make sure the association selects a tree company with a long history, proven track record, and accreditation. This will help ensure that the professionals have seen every tree care issue that can arise, understand what is visible, and they know the science behind the tree care issue. The Certified Arborist Hero should have a lab available for testing as needed, scientific data and evidence, to go with possible treatment solutions.
It is also important to understand the safety record, safety training, and licenses mandated by the tree company for its employees. This helps protect your association and residents. Look for a Certified Arborist Hero that takes pride in the collaboration of working with the board of directors, property manager, and landscaper; a Hero who also has community involvement, takes pride in the area, and has a long history with associations. Your Certified Arborist can be a Certified Hero to your community association!
