TECHNOLOGY TRENDS IN CONSTRUCTION

LCPtracker’s Workforce Manager Delivers Tech-Based Solution for Construction Industry Workforce Challenge

By Carol Eaton C

onstruction industry software solution provider LCPtracker, Inc. got its start nearly two

decades ago with the creation of a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution focused primarily on certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance. Te company quickly grew deep

roots in that market, and today its flagship product, LCPtracker Profes- sional, has earned its place as a leading solution for the construction compliance management industry. LCPtracker, Inc. consistently ranks among the fastest growing private companies in Orange County, with a reported 80+ employees and nationwide clients that include 33 of the largest cities in the U.S., 9 statewide departments of transpor- tation, and 6 of the nation’s largest construction companies, among others.

Empowering People While the primary driver behind

LCPtracker was to fill a market niche by providing a digitized approach to the reporting requirements of Davis- Bacon and prevailing wage laws, it was also inspired by another goal: ensuring construction workers receive the pay they are entitled to on public projects. Tis helped fulfill a vision by CEO Mark Douglas of “empowering people to build better communities.” In the years since its founding,

LCPtracker has developed and launched several related and complementary products, including LCPcertified, OnSite, and Daily Reporter to name a few. Its most recent launch – Workforce Manager – may be the company’s most ambitious yet

when it comes to transforming the lives of marginalized individuals and improving the economic health of local communities, while also helping to build up the construction industry workforce. Leveraging the concept of “virtual

collaboration,” Workforce Manager allows groups, like community service providers and government agencies, to establish permissions with other similar groups to share the most relevant data and track construction workers throughout their career. Te overarching objective: to

transform and positively impact the lives of underserved and disenfran- chised individuals, including formerly

incarcerated, aged out foster care youth and the economically disadvantaged, by providing a path into the industry while offering a vital platform to track, measure, verify and ultimately grow a construction workforce for current and future needs.

Inspiration Behind Workforce Manager

LCPtracker Business Unit Director

Amanda Hesse pointed out the focus is to harness the power of connec- tivity among government and service agencies, employers and others who participate in the platform to help individuals get into the industry and be supported throughout a successful career.

She shared the story of Jarmaine

Gordon as the example of an individual who helped inspire the development of Workforce Manager. Born and raised in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, Gordon lost his mother at age 15. It was then that his life took a turn for the worse; he began carrying guns and getting into trouble and eventually, a series of poor decisions led to a 17-year prison sentence at just 23 years old. “When released years later,

Jarmaine was determined to rebuild his life. He just needed a second chance,” Hesse recounted. “He began carpentry school and graduated from the Brother’s Keeper program. During this program he met Isabella, a representative through Los Angeles Community College District. Te day he graduated Isabella helped connect Jarmaine with a dry wall company to get indentured with the contractor.” One of the most challenging times in his life proved to be a huge growth
