AGC Looks to the Future with New Mission
For nearly a century our members have worked to build a better California. With this new mission, we communicate why all those who believe in having a stronger state – one with greater opportunities to build – should join AGC as a member and work together to create those opportunities.
T
Shaping Policy: Two simple words that have great
impact. When AGC of California talks about “shaping policy,” we’re looking at policy from the holistic stance of any action by a government entity that affects the way we run our business and build our projects. Tis includes legislation, laws, codes, rules, ordinances, and regulations. Our industry is a highly skilled and
highly regulated industry, with job sites and procedures that are foreign to most of the individuals setting the rules. It is imperative that as an industry, we inform decision makers at all levels of the impacts and conse- quences of existing and proposed policies. Tat is why AGC has enhanced its Advocacy Team to strengthen relationships across the state. Every district will have a dedicated Regional Government Affairs Manager who will be on the ground developing relation- ships with agencies and elected officials to ensure the industry voice is present at the local level.
Improving Industry Relationships: Construction is a relationship
industry. It is through the relationships with the trades, our subcontractors, our suppliers, our vendors, and our business owners that projects get done. AGC is committed to supporting these relation- ships and enhancing them through quality networking, programming, and industry relations services. We have increased our staffing levels to build stronger relationships with our trade

partners by establishing Industrial Relations Directors for both Northern California and Southern California with growing teams to support your needs. We have also restructured our member services teams to ensure that all districts experience the same high-quality services across the state consistently and effectively. We have added three new Regional Director positions to ensure consistent implemen- tation and deployment of services to the four districts each will serve. Trough this, we also hope to increase engagement opportu- nities for the industry to connect.
Developing our Workforce: Without a strong workforce pipeline,
our industry has no future. AGC is empow- ering its 501(c)3 public charity, the AGC Construction Education Foundation (CEF), to enhance and execute our education, training, and workforce development programs. Tey will be delivering safety, health, and project delivery training, as well as educational programing to ensure our current workforce has access to the services to be safe and effective. Additionally, they will look for ways
to develop programing that will target the future workforce and ensure career pathways in construction become a priority across the state. Together through these existing and future efforts, AGC will ensure that the industry has the necessary workforce to continue to build and strengthen our state. Te future of AGC, just like its past, is
focused on the success of California through the success of our members. When our industry is thriving and building, the state is succeeding. We look forward to working with all of our members in building a better state. Here at AGC of California, we are ready to serve.
