DEPARTMENTS ASSOCIATION HIGHLIGHTS


AGC of California’s Legislative Summit drew over 140 construction professionals to Sacramento May 14-15 to hear from and meet with an array of elected officials as well as attend AGC’s quarterly State and Division Board meetings, among other events. A few of the meeting highlights pictured here include: 1) The AGC Building Division hosted a panel presentation on the $2.4 billion San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Terminal One project currently underway. Panelists included Hensel Phelps Project Director Todd Temple (center), Beumer Group Senior Project Director David Delaney, and SFO Program Manager Kristi Hogan. 2) Bryan Pennington with the Los Angeles County Metro Transportation Authority (right) offered a presentation to Jt. Engineering division directors on a variety of transit work underway by LA Metro, funded in large part by a local sales tax Measure R. 3) Scott Fredrickson with Caltrans (right) and John Cooper, AGC (left) along with Jt. Engineering Division Chair Clinton Myers and Vice Chair Ted Polich, discussed the variety of solutions that have been put forth by the SB 1 task groups comprising both Caltrans representatives and AGC members.


AGC Welcomes New Foundation Program

Powell recently joined AGC of California as the new Foundation Program Manager. Powell’s work


experience includes managing a robust volunteer program for the American River Parkway Foundation, including recruitment, training, data reporting and event planning and implementation. He holds a B.A. in Global Studies


& Broadcast Journalism from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Powell will oversee AGC CEF programs and services, providing direct support of the organization’s Workforce Development team. He can be reached at powellj@ agc-ca.org or (916) 371-2422.

The Southern California CLC held its annual “Leaders & Legends Dinner” at the Hotel Irvine Jamboree Center on May 24. Attendees enjoyed a face-to-face Q&A session and an opportunity to learn leadership skills from some of the best minds in the construction industry, including (not listed in order) Shaabini Alford, Vice President of Murray Company; Jaimie Angus, President of Griffith Company; Andy Buerk, Vice President of Bernards; Tyrone Polich, President of TT Polich Construction Company; and Greg Timmerman, Vice President of ISEC, Inc.
