bites in which that drone could drop medical supplies to a trail user giving instruction and saving lives. That same drone could even become a hero in locating a child that is lost, bringing them home to his or her family. Life is precious and we have to have the abili- ty to be safe on trails. Technology is applicable in encour- aging tourism with ideas such as creat- ing an AR-trail app or developing smart parks near trailheads. Technology will address our concerns, such as safety but become even more trendy than ever before with innovation. Innovation technology is just a matter of “commu- nicating” those ideas and collaborating with teams that can help anyone accom- plish any objective. With the great tools available in GIS mapping, we can layer in features such as E911 and so many other ideas giving our trail user more courage to be happy and healthy.

One important new GIS application for advocating trail technology is the Missouri Trails Project. It aims to build a collection of all trails; national, state, regional, and local. One of the more important goals of this project is to use the data collected to analyze future trail connections, helping plan the future for Missouri tourism and outdoor recre- - agers and trail users to one resource for information, visitmissouritrails.com. Our future trail technology is build- ing connections for all trail systems. We will reshape the economic balance,

increase access for tourism, establishing “link-hoods” and trail towns by layer- ing more information on the best prac- tices for trails; we have hope in encour- aging enhanced design for improve- ments of safety giving a foundation to a collection of happy trails.

Yes, trails are important and it is time for thinking creatively about the possibility in solving trail related prob- lems with technology to enhance that trail adventure to a whole new level of happiness, so let’s get to work!
