NARSA/IDEA Members Help Kentucky Tornado Victims
AFTER A POWERFUL TORNADO swept through Kentucky, NARSA/IDEA member Roppel Industries jumped in to help their neighbors in need.
Deadly and destructive storms moved across Western Kentucky December 10, 2021. The National Weather Service classified it as an EF-4 tornado with winds topping 190 mph. At least 77 people were killed, and more than 1,000 properties were destroyed.
The Roppel family learned one of their longtime customers’ business across the state in Mayfield was destroyed. Thankfully, none of the employees were injured.
“We have been family-owned and operated for the past 75 years, and we have strived on treating our customers like family,” said Ryan Roppel, Roppel Industries Vice President. “And when one of our family members goes down, we try to pick them up. That’s just how we do business.”

Roppel’s customer decided to handle cleanup on their own, and asked the Roppels to instead focus on the other tornado victims.
“We got hit with storms up here in Louisville, but nothing like they did down in Mayfield,” said Roppel. “My brothers,
my dad, we all got together. And we decided we needed to do something for them.”
Roppel turned to Facebook and posted in his neighborhood group. “I live in a really tight knit neighborhood. I thought I would just get a few things, but within a
