in the energy sector cut off from the financial services they need to survive. Ten the question becomes this: what’s next? Manufactures across Missouri that need dependable energy sources to survive? Cattle farmers? Te bottom line is banks should make lending decisions based on profitability and credit worthiness, and they should not be weaponized to pursue ideological goals that don’t have the public support to make it through the legislative process.
American businesses have suffered enough throughout the last year. Every legally operating business in this country — regardless of political ideology — has the right to serve their communities and recover from the losses resulting from the pandemic. Restricting access to financial
services to any business during our continued economic recovery would be grossly irresponsible, and I will do everything in my power here in Congress and on the committee to stop it. At the same time, if your examiners start putting inappropriate pressure on your bank or begin taking punitive actions, push back. Don’t stand for it and be sure to let me know. We have a lot of small businesses that are barely hanging on and need your help to recover. We can’t allow ideologues to prevent you from doing the work our entire economy is counting on you to do.
