MBA Prepares for the Return of In-Person Events By Jackson Hataway, Executive Vice President of Communications, Marketing & Member Services


    We are hopeful that we will see many of you there as we celebrate the opportunity to finally be together again in a face-to-face setting! With golf at a beautiful course, entertainment from Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos in the evening and, of course, presentations from top- notch speakers and thinkers, the days until convention cannot pass quickly enough. It’s hard to believe that our educational programs have been completely digital for an entire year. Bankers have leaned into their professional development with the same tenacity and diligence that enabled them to manage the whirlwind of the Paycheck Protection Program. We fully anticipate that this convention will be the warmest, happiest and most celebratory event in recent history.


Tere will, of course, be various health and safety requirements we will ask everyone to adhere to as we gather. Our protocols and policies are constantly under review and will be guided by the most recent federal and state guidance for group settings. Tat may well mean masks when indoors with others, social distancing measures and constant sanitation effort. We will do our best to ensure that these measures in no way detract


from the engaging and informative experience you expect from our annual convention. However, we would ask that you help us successfully navigate this new world of events by adhering to the guidelines we produce and promoting the health of everyone in attendance.


We envision convention to be a major milestone for MBA and for our bankers as we prepare for more events in the latter half of 2021. Although we will undoubtedly continue to deal with uncertainty as COVID-19 is mitigated in the U.S., we firmly believe that the next year will be filled with meetings, seminars and conferences in which we can re-enable the peer-to-peer relationships that are so critical in banking. We will take the lessons learned from the past year and from convention to ensure that these events take place with the effectiveness and consistency you’ve come to expect from MBA. If you have any concerns or questions, we simply ask that you reach out to us.
