Choral Anthem Project: a resource for members
Looking to find—or share—a great choral anthem? Tat’s the objective of NPM’s ongoing Choral Anthem Project.
It was initiated by the Director of Music Ministries Division (DMMD) in the early 1990s as the “Lectionary Project.” Originally intended to be a book, in 1999 NPM decided to make this project available on its website.
Te project’s goal is to provide suggestions of choral pieces on their high compositional craft and their relationship to the Scriptures and the Entrance and Communion antiphons for each Sunday and holy day.
To access the suggestions, login to the premium content on
npm.org, click on “Choral Anthem Project,” followed by the year, and then the Sunday or holy day. Users are encouraged to submit suggestions for inclusion to Henry Bauer at
hbauermus@aol.com
Silent Auction to make a new statement
At the 43rd Annual NPM Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, you have an opportunity this summer to help your
national association and your local chapter at the same time. Te silent auction has a whole new look with a special display of chapter-only raffle baskets in the middle of all the action. Raffle tickets will be available for sale throughout the convention.
Proceeds from every chapter-donated basket will be split between the national association and the chapter. Te better your basket is, the more people will want to win it, and the more money your chapter will receive for that donation.
Now is the time to start planning. Tink locally. What is your area known for? Do you have outstanding wineries? Special foods/treats? Sports teams? Now think of your resources: What can your members donate to your basket? Who on your team is creative and able to put together a winning display? Bring your basket when you arrive, and we will display it proudly with your chapter’s name. For more information, contact Joanne Bokor at
joannebokor@gmail.com.
Steer young adults to attend convention as Tech Team members
Te NPM Tech Team is a great way for students ages 18-25 who are involved in music and liturgy to
participate in the convention at a reduced cost.
Team members work under the supervision of the Tech Team Coordinator to provide support for social media/journalism, live-streaming, photography/videography, audio visual and more. Tis hard-working group spends time throughout the week on technical details as well as professional and spiritual formation. It’s a great way to experience NPM from the inside out.
Team members receive complimentary convention registration, complimentary registration in the Emerging Leaders Institute, a convention t-shirt, and housing for five nights in shared hotel rooms. Travel and food costs are the responsibility of the individual.
Applications accepted January 13-May 15, 2020. For more information contact
berta@npm.org.
