“We’re seeing more of that. It takes labor out of the equation for those operators. They can put that off to the side, let people run their own coffee machine or other piece of equipment and service more customers that way,” Rodgers says.

Similar to last year, the 2024 show will make significant charitable contributions and operate in a sustainable manner. In 2023, for example, the show donated nearly 68,000 pounds of food to two Chicago organizations focused on feeding communities in need. It also minimized food waste, adopted eco-friendly practices, recycled materials and took a “digital-first” approach.
Now part of Informa Connect, the show is increasing its sustainability commitment by going “electricity neutral” at this year’s event. The company will buy renewable energy credits for the electricity grid in Chicago. “We’re really excited about this program to make our electricity usage carbon neutral,” Rodgers says. “This is just one of several ways that we’re implementing and using more sustainability programs.”
