July By Mary Drew Bult

Happy 4th of July! It may be more difficult to celebrate our country’s birthday this year because of the coronavirus’ effect on us all. However, that should not stop us from using our creativity to make this holiday memorable. We can also use this time to thank God for all that he has done for us, and all that he is doing for our country right this very moment. I know it seems tough at the moment. Sometimes we don’t see how God could possibly be

using a scary situation for good, but we just have to trust him. All countries will have their share of difficult times, and the coronavirus is only one of them. But there is good news: God has a plan. God once used a prophet named Jeremiah to tell his people, when they were going through a tough time, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Those words are still true for those who trust him through tough times. We truly do have a lot to be thankful for this 4th of July. God loves us and he has a plan not only for our county, but also for the whole world! God’s plan always succeeds. Enjoy your holiday knowing that he is in control!

Sit down with your family and tell some classic jokes!

By Mary Drew Bult

Q: Why did the kid throw his clock out the window? A: Because he wanted to see time fly.

Q: Which hand is it better to write with? A: Neither: It’s better to write with a pencil.

Q: Why did the cookie go to the nurse? A: Because he felt crummy.

Q: Why did the picture go to prison? A: Because it was framed.

Q: What do you call a bear with no ears? A: A “B”

Can you and your family think of anybody who might be in need of encouragement during this tough time? Maybe its someone in your church or maybe its one of your neighbors. Can you think of any creative ways to brighten their day? Perhaps you could send them a thoughtful card, give them a phone call, send a text, or even just wave and smile next time you see them.
