One thing you hear consistently about the ARP denomination is that it is family oriented and small. From time to time, however, you catch glimpses of how impactful the denomination has been on a global scale. Obvious examples are the early works in Mexico and Pakistan which, in recent years, have contributed heavily toward forming new Presbyterian denominations in Spain and Poland, reaching the Muslim diaspora in Europe, and training pastors in Rwanda. As former moderator, Lee Shelnutt preached years ago from Zechariah 4:9-10, “. . . do not despise the days of small things.”

Though the work of World Witness has been critical in diverse regions of the world, the ultimate hope is the expansion of the Church to increase in our lives. An encouraging reminder of that occurred this summer when nearly all World Witness missionaries gathered in southeastern Germany for a multi-day retreat led by Rev. Matt Kuiken. It was set in the arrestingly beautiful German Alps and hosted by a YMCA facility.
While there, we enjoyed wonderful fellowship as we hiked the surrounding mountains and swam in the freezing lake waters. This area was very close night of Sound of Music Karaoke. In the morning and evening, we enjoyed the excellent teachings of Pastor Matt and sang praise music led by Rev. Andrew Di lulio.
All in all, it was a perfect time of fellowship and worship which served as a dim but beautiful picture of the future coming Kingdom and as a clarifying but encouraging reminder of the task yet at hand. In short, it was a time of increasing our worship to the Lord.
continue the critical work of expanding the Church and increasing worship. The ARP denomination may be small, but a small denomination devoted to worship and fellowship can and should boldly push you, your church, and your missionaries to be the springboard for sharing the Gospel with neighbors, friends, families, and coworkers. Never despise the days of small things.
