Describe how the Lord called you to serve at King’s Church. While in seminary, I was becoming increasingly aware that the Lord was calling me to church

I was fully prepared to plant in the Fort Mill area. Every bit of planning and preparation had been done, but the Lord gave me pause. I knew I had been called to King’s Church, but I hadn’t been called away from King’s Church. In God’s providence, when Rev. Awtrey’s season with King’s Church was over, the session called me to continue serving the church.

So many young people leave church after high school. We’ve found that it isn’t a lack of children’s ministry programs but a lack of helping parents faithfully disciple their children. King’s Church wants to help parents disciple kids in their own homes, which pays dividends for generations. We still reach out to our community and unbelievers but believe ministry starts with those in our own home. We are see- ing fruit as parents are having more and more stories of their children taking interest in things of the Lord.

Another ministry has been to people who may have grown up in church but do not really understand the Gospel. In honesty, I show them the truth that is in God’s Word and that growing up in the church, being baptized, and being “good” does not make you a Christian. In doing so I 

• Pray that we will trust that God will bring people He is already working on to hear the truth of the Gospel. • Pray for true fellowship in our congregation as we practice hospitality and use community groups to connect on a genuine level.
