This is a pivotal and at the same time (arguably), one of the most glori- ous verses in all of Scripture. It is the Holy Spirit’s declaration that the elect people of God are under no condemnation for their sins. What a glo- rious statement and truth. Even though sin still surrounds us and is in us, blood of Jesus Christ. When God looks at us, He only sees us covered by for us on the cross, is applied to us and to our sins. We have escaped from the wrath that is to come. God will never change His mind regarding our salvation. Just as we cannot earn our salvation, we cannot sin our way out of salvation. Once in Christ, we will never be forsaken. Once saved, always saved. When we put our trust in Jesus, we have moved into His kingdom and we are inside Christ. We have moved into Christ by faith and we reside in eternal union with Him by faith.
So, as we come back to our earlier question of daily struggles, how do we deal with this problem? What is the answer to our problem? Philip- pians 3: 12–14 gives us the answer. “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. prayer. When we press on, we bring our focus back into a proper week by week, month by month, and year by year, we will see our- selves growing in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ. God’s eternal truth will become clear to us if we are faithful. Press on to know Christ and His resur- rection so that we can share in His sufferings, becoming like Him in death so that we may at- tain His resurrection from the dead. Press on to make Christ’s resurrection your own as Christ has made you His own. Press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. This is the call to the saints to persevere in their daily strug- gles in sin. This is the answer to us in our daily struggles with sin, “Press on in faithfulness to the glory of Jesus Christ!” AMEN!
