Turf Australia Bids Farewell to Jenny Zadro and Looks to the Future
In an email message on September 6, 2022, Jenny Zadro announced her resignation. “Friday will be my last day at Turf Australia, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the growers and industry representatives that I have had the pleasure of working with over the past four and half years. Tere have certainly been some challenges during that time with droughts, Covid, and floods, but I believe the industry has had a strong voice and is now recognized as a valuable industry by all levels of government and decision makers. I am always in awe of the strength and resilience shown by our turf community to fight and overcome the tough times.”

In addition, Zadro pointed to some of the highlights since taking the role in 2018 and thanked the Turf Australia Board members for their support.
Her work was highlighted in the Turf Australia September Newsletter, issued September 20, 2022. Its feature, “Farewell Jenny Zadro,” reported, “Jenny Zadro has finished up at Turf Australia after four and a half years with the national association. Jenny has been instrumental in leading several projects during her time with Turf Australia. Most recently, she played an active role in engaging with all levels of government to secure support and assistance for growers in the wake of back- to-back floods over the last two years.”
It reported some of the highlights of her time at Turf Australia, and concluded with, “Jenny has decided that she would like to spend more time with her family and take a step back from Turf Australia, and whilst we are sad to see Jenny leave, we wish her well in her new endeavors. In the meantime, we are actively recruiting for the role of Executive Officer. Tis process may take some time as we look to engage a suitable candidate.
As a result, the new Turf Industry Development and Extension project is currently on hold, as we seek to find a replacement for Jenny.”
Noting that “on hold” status again in the Turf Australia Grow Green section, the Newsletter explained, “Tis is so we can ensure the new project leader is across the project from the outset. Tank you to the growers who have joined the project reference group for this project, this team will be instrumental in helping us recruit a new Executive Officer to lead this project.”
As part of looking to the future, the Newsletter also invited members to “Have your say on communications. Te Australian turf industry communications program (TU16004) is concluding at the end of September. It is hoped that Turf Australia will continue this project when a new program is launched in November. In the meantime, please help us by filling out this quick, 3-minute survey which will help measure the success of this project and guide future communications projects.”
