VHGS fosters an online community of industry professionals and consumer advocates dedicated to highlighting the beneficial work of the lawn and landscape profession in strengthening local communities, supporting a strong economy, and improving local environments. It also provides the public and decision-makers access to accurate information about key industry issues. An example of the many graphics offered on the Voices for Healthy Green Spaces website is pictured above. Consider posting some of them on Twitter, tying into the image and promoting the benefits of green spaces with copy such as this VHGS suggestion, “Not only are local green spaces a place to enjoy nature, but they also benefit the health of our environments. Properly cared for green areas can improve air and water quality, sequester carbon emissions, and cool our communities for the future.”
OPEI’s TurfMutt Foundation, an environmental education and stewardship program that encourages outdoor living and caring for green spaces, has chosen “Backyarding” as the name for the pandemic-prompted trend of moving indoor activities outdoors.
