NALP NOTCHES VICTORIES IN 2016 N
ALP released its 2016 Public Affairs Score Card in September, tracking the status of issues that impact
the landscape industry and summarizing NALP advocacy efforts for the year, including several important victories. The score card tracks federal, state and local issues and will be shared on a quarterly basis going forward. NALP advocacy victories in 2016 included the addition
of H-2B regulatory relief measures in federal appropria- tions bills, protecting landscape companies from neonics bans in Illinois and Maryland and the successful tabling of proposals harmful to the landscape industry in several cities and towns across the country. The score card will educate the industry about import-
ant policy issues that threaten their businesses while also encouraging individuals to participate in the political process. “Despite the many victories we achieved this year, our industry still faces many challenges,” said NALP Vice Pres- ident of Government Relations Paul Mendelsohn. “NALP closely monitors issues at all levels of government so that we are well positioned to act when the need arises. How- ever, our advocacy team can’t do it alone. Our advocacy
success is directly tied to our level of member engage- ment. Lawmakers need to hear how these issues impact companies in their town, state or district.” To read the complete NALP Public Affairs Score Card,
