The Wallace family was back to Bologna in April again expecting a ceremony for Bob. It was recommended by Charlie and Paolo Stanzani that a tree should be planted in Bob’s memory, and the perfect location seemed to be the Lam- borghini Park. However, this idea was not possible and Cristina relayed this information to Paolo Stanzani 10 days before Bob's family arrived. So Cristina started thinking - what to do? Then she contacted the Mayor of Sant'Agata in person to explain their objectives and ask him if there was a square or a road that could have been named after Bob. Un- fortunately, there was nothing that could be done with this idea. Still, she was determined to find a way to honor this man who had been so special to Lamborghini. On her way to the local Conad supermarket, Cristina drove by a beautiful new roundabout which was at that time overgrown with tall grass. It was only a block from Balboni Highway and offered a perfect location for a Bob Wallace memorial site. She immediately called the Mayor and he said that it was a free roundabout and that he would be happy to name it after Bob Wallace. Since this action would require additional township permission, he decided to schedule a special meeting on the following day, a Saturday morning, to expedite the process of creating and getting signatures for the appropriate doc- uments. (Note: Final approval was received on June 17th 2015) On April 21st 2015, they were allowed to organize a "special moment" with Bob Wallace's fam- ily. Guests included Paolo Stanzani and Engineer Dallara together with about a hundred Lamborghini ex-workers. In a solemn ceremony, Bob's tree was planted. A special sculpture made by Marchesi was unveiled: it was constructed from the frame of the real Countach! Paolo Stanzani had a commemorative plaque made with a special dedication engraved. Marchesi was the supplier of all of the frames for Lamborghinis from the 350 to the Countach, so it was entirely fitting his shop should create this sculpture. The grass will be cut and the site will be maintained by Guliano Pizzi who lives close by the roundabout. Guliano was Lamborghini's top mechanic in the early years and was the man who started the first ever Lamborghini engine for the GTV. He knew Bob well and was happy to volunteer to maintain this special place in his honor.
It is always a pleasure to know somebody like Cristina Guizzardi who has such genuine passion for the history and heritage of Lamborghini. If you haven't afforded yourself the pleasure of a trip to the factory, you need to add it to your bucket list if for no other reason than to meet this special lady. Of course, all those cars on the display floor are nice too!” - Jack Riddell
Cristina buys a Lamborghini! When I saw Cristina in late May of 2015, she was very excited and animated. She said "I have finally bought a Lamborghini!" I said "I bet it was a tractor" and she laughed and said I was right. She has always been a big fan of Ferruccio's tractors. Here is her story in Cristina's words: "My Tori e Motori club members know that they are supposed to always keep me informed when they see special Lamborghini pieces. One day, Silvano Pizzi (he started working for Lamborghini in 1964) and his wife Catia had gone to buy apples and peaches from a farmer in San Giovanni. There were many tractors at the farm and Catia asked if there was also a Lamborghini
tractor....the famer said yes, there was one. It was an old Lam- borghini tractor powered by an MWM engine. When they re- turned home they phoned me, and the following day I was at the farmer's place in San Giovanni because I wanted to see the tractor! Raj Hunjan, journalist and friend of Carl Peele of the Lamborghini Club UK - was with me and he took pictures and even made a video when the old Lamborghini tractor was started. Fabio Lam- borghini is right when he says that the Lamborghini tractors are al- ways running and never break! It was such a big emotion for me hearing its roar, seeing the black smoke, and thinking that Ferruccio had made it. I think back to the very beginning and I always see Ferruccio as a genius. The tractor was for sale but its condition was not good and it would have needed a complete restoration. I kept thinking about that tractor thinking to buy it but... 1,100 Euro and not in a condition to be displayed. I couldn't decide. I was and still am in touch with a Mr. Alfio living in Renazzo. He owns a huge collection of Lamborghini tractors. It's his passion since he was a young boy; collecting Lamborghini Tractors. I spoke to him about that old tractor powered with an MWM engine and he was very interested. Ultimately, he went to see it and bought it so now it is in safe and appreciative hands."
"I never stopped thinking about the Lamborghini tractors - they were so fascinating to me since Ferruccio had made them even be- fore the cars. And of course they were the only Lamborghini that I might be able to afford to buy! Last year in December, Silvano's wife Catia phoned me again. She was very excited and told me about another Lamborghini tractor owned by a farmer in Sant'A- gata! On the following day we were there to check out that tractor. It had been raining and there was a lot of mud outside. The tractor was inside a hangar with many other mechanical machines and I could barely see it. The farmer told us that for the Tori e Motori association he would offer a very good price, he said 300 Euro and he would give me a replacement radiator and a new engine as well. I said to him" OK, I'll buy it". However I had to wait until April this year to see and get it: I was so happy and so surprised that it was in much better con- dition than expected. I paid 400 Euros (he had forgotten that his original offer was a bit less...) it's a beautiful DL30 model powered with a Lamborghini engine, dating back the mid '50s. It can even be started with the hand crank. It is beautiful; I fell in love with it and the joy that I feel when I look at it is so huge that no one can imagine! The tractor has original lights, the original logo, it even has a number plate. The engine must be checked and work must be done before it can be started, but I do not mind. In time it will run, and I have some Lamborghini friends who will help me bring this old warrior back to life." LA VITA
