PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Robert Perkes, DC, President WSCA Board of Directors
I’m excited to work as your President this year. I have been an active WSCA member since I was a wee chiropractic student over 20 years ago. I own a mirror and the
gray in my beard reminds me daily that I am no longer a wee student. I am still an active WSCA member.
I have always considered my membership in the association a bank account. You have to make deposits before you can make withdrawals. Like many chiropractors in this state, my association account is probably a little over drawn. I will work hard this year to bring my account current.
We have opportunities dressed as challenges ahead of us. National politics are a mess and local ones are little better. Funding for healthcare, education and research have all been cut. Our patients, friends and offices will feel this squeeze.
Our government leaders will be looking for cost effective answers for healthcare. We have research that shows our cost effectiveness and benefit to the system. We must get it in front of them.
Our patients’ dollars will be stretched. We will need to add value and help them see us as affordable full scope providers using our whole education and abilities.
We must be leaders in the healthcare realm for our future and the future of the next generation of chiropractors. These things will not be easy, but people are counting on us. It is time for us to bring our accounts current.
I promise to listen. I promise to think. I promise to prepare. I promise to make choices. I promise to work.
