DC FAQs By WSCA Staff
I saw a message in a recent newsletter about nominating people for awards. What awards do you give and what sort of accomplishments qualify?
The WSCA has a range of awards we give. We don’t give all of them out every year—just when we have deserving nominees. Here’s a rundown of the awards we have along with what they’re for:
• Chiropractor of the Year: Awarded to the WSCA member having contributed unusual talent, time, and efforts toward the success of the association and the profession at-large.
• President’s Award: Awarded to one or more individuals identified by the outgoing president as having been instrumental in helping them perform their duties. May be anyone, DC or not.
•
Pioneer Award: Awarded to someone who has “lead the way” in chiropractic or who has “broken new ground.” May be anyone, DC or not, and, other than in exceptional circumstances, have been serving the profession for at least ten years.
• Volunteer of the Year: Awarded to a WSCA member who has expended significant time and effort in supporting the association and/or projects or organizations it supports.
• Freedom Award: Awarded to an individual who has contributed an unusual amount of time and effort toward the advancement, promotion, and protection of the profession. May be anyone, DC or not.
•
Distinguished Service Award: Awarded to outgoing WSCA Board members in recognition of their service.
• Outstanding Service Award: Awarded to WSCA members participating in task forces, committees, or other roles supporting the association’s mission. (Basically, the Distinguished Service Award, but for DCs who aren’t Board members.)
•
Citizen of the Year Award: Awarded to a non-DC in recognition of their support of the WSCA and its stated goals.
• Corporate Member of the Year: Awarded to a WSCA corporate member for exceptional service to the WSCA, the profession, or individual practitioners.
The WSCA awards will be presented at WSCA Connect 2026 on Saturday, October 24 at the luncheon.
