PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Robert Perkes, DC, President WSCA Board of Directors

I met an old friend last month at the WSCA Spring Connect ‘26 spring conference in Wenatchee. I would love to say it was great to see him again but it wasn’t. With a packed schedule and hours in our seats, my old friend “seat butt” returned. I don’t have the stamina to sit like I once did! From the wiggles and the walks, I wasn’t the only one.

The speakers were great. I am sure I make at least four of speaker Dr. Jay Shetlin’s 10 common mistakes. I learned I need to buy a laser for myself and then benefit my patients. Timely CPA knowledge was dropped just before tax time and I learned new authorization procedures to bump that number up for next year.

The location and weather cooperated for a fantastic weekend. It was warm enough to walk around town and there were great venues for eating both inside and out. The venue had the latest technology and plenty of parking.

I did hear complaints that the venue was a bit cramped but truthfully, that was music to my ears . . . Eastern Washington has fewer DCs spread over a greater area and has risks when planning events. Your support filled all of our seats and we actually had to turn people away. We will be able to bring more events over the hill and serve the dry side of the mountain.

We also recently had our WSCA Board Retreat. It was a productive day of working on ways to better serve and increase our membership. We are making plans to be a more powerful actor for Washington chiropractors.

I want to send a personal thank you to all of the WSCA Board Members. It is a largely thankless job. Thank you.

Being on the Board is a volunteer position and it certainly isn’t free. Gas and hotels add up quickly when attending events and meetings. The lost hours from our practices and the brain drain from constantly thinking about state level issues has a cost. Thank you for paying that bill.

I appreciate what every one of you brings.
