• Reflect the voices of a significant and representative cross section of the entire profession.

• Ensure each goal, as well as the language included, has been debated, discussed, and ultimately agreed upon by professionals representing the diverse philosophies, practice styles, and career, which make up the profession.

• Implementation and follow-through are to be led by a coalition of volunteers representing the full spectrum of chiropractic and who are committed to advancing the profession as a whole.

You can learn more about the plan by visiting https:// chirohealth.org/chirofuturestrategicplan. And you can learn more about where we’re at in the plan and what we’ve done in the past year by reading the 2025 Annual Report. You can find that at https://chirohealth.org/cf2025annualreport.

because a candidate isn’t eligible for the current vacancy, that doesn’t mean they won’t be when the next one comes around. There may be a highly-qualified candidate who only has four years of licensure in Washington. We want to vet that person as early as possible and have their name in queue because they may be right for a position that will open one year from now when they are eligible for appointment.

Like many professions, chiropractic is at a generational crossroads right now. It’s time for younger doctors to step up into leadership positions, so if you think you’re what we’re looking for, start the process now.

There are also other variables that the Governor’s Office considers in candidates in order to maintain a balanced, representative Commission.

They want Commissioners

I recently saw a video in the newsletter calling for CQAC applicants. What are all of the requirements to serve on the Commission?

who represent every corner of the state, a variety of races, ages, genders, ableness, and professional and philosophical backgrounds. If there’s any special demographic you belong to that would highlight the diversity of the profession, it’s worth noting. So, if you are interested in potentially serving on the Commission—now or in the future—email Lori Grassi at wsca@chirohealth.org to let her know. She’ll get you all the information you need and get you started in the process.

Each issue of Plexus features several frequently asked questions about chiropractic in Washington. If you have any questions you’d like to see shared in the magazine, please submit them to:

There are three inflexible requirements to be eligible for service on the CQAC. First, you must be a Washington- licensed chiropractor. Second, you need to have been licensed in Washington for a minimum of five years. And finally, you cannot have any active complaints, investigations, or unresolved disciplinary matters relating to your license. (Complaints and previous discipline are not absolute bars to appointment—you just can’t have any complaints that are currently pending and you have to have completed all the remedial requirements imposed from previous disciplinary actions.)

When we put out a call for applicants though, we encourage everyone who is interested to let us know, even if they don’t quite meet the requirements. For instance, after this recent call, we received a number of inquiries from chiropractors with three or four years of licensure. And that’s totally fine—we’re glad to have that information. Positions on the Commission come open all the time and the names we put on our recommendation list to the Governor stay on it, sometimes for a few years. Just

“Our primary bill this year was SB 5899, creating a license endorsement to allow qualified licensed chiropractors to perform chiropractic diagnosis and adjustments on nonhuman animals.”
