On August 26, 2025, the Irvine Marriott welcomed hundreds of property managers, business partners, and board members from across Orange County for the annual CAI-OC Symposium & Expo. This year’s theme, “Bringing Bright Ideas to the Neighborhood,” brought a playful twist to the industry’s premier event with a little help from the inspiration of Sesame Street. From colorful displays to creative touches throughout the venue, attendees were reminded that even the most serious topics in community association management can shine with positivity, imagination, and teamwork.

Much like Big Bird teaching life lessons with warmth and patience, this year’s educational sessions provided both practical knowledge and meaningful insights. Attendees had the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) while exploring a range of timely topics—from legislative updates and fi nancial management to communication strategies and leadership development.
The sessions emphasized real-world solutions and forward-thinking practices that community leaders can bring back to their neighborhoods. In true Sesame Street spirit, the message was clear: learning is for everyone, and brighter communities start with leaders who never stop growing.
Neighbors with Bright Ideas
Just like walking down Sesame Street and discovering neighbors ready to lend a hand, the trade show fl oor was buzzing with friendly faces and innovative ideas. Exhibitors showcased the latest services, technologies, and products tailored for community associations, ranging from landscaping and construction to cutting- edge software and legal expertise.
The energy on the fl oor refl ected this year’s theme, with exhibitors offering not just solutions, but also “bright ideas” to light up the future of community management. Networking, conversations, and a spirit of collaboration made the Expo an invaluable resource for attendees.
Spotlight on Melissa Ramsey
This year’s keynote speaker, Melissa Ramsey, CMCA, AMS, LSM, PCAM, brought the day’s theme full circle. As the current President of the CAI Board of Trustees, Melissa has served on both the local and national levels of the organization with distinction. Her keynote on emotional intelligence reminded us that while knowledge and resources are essential, it’s our ability to understand, connect, and care for one another that truly brightens our industry.
