AGC Legislative Day attendees gathered on the Assembly Floor.

AGC of California’s 2025 Legislative Day

A

GC of California’s 2025 State Legislative Day, held May 6–7, 2025 in Sacramento, once again

demonstrated the strength and unity of California’s construction industry. Over two days, AGC members from

across the state met face-to-face with lawmakers and top state leaders to ad- vocate for policies that protect the in- dustry’s future and promote long-term infrastructure investment. Te event opened at the historic Sutter

Club with a political briefing and remarks from key candidates in California’s 2026 gubernatorial race: Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, former Los Angeles Mayor and Assembly speaker Antonio Villarai-

gosa, and former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary and Attorney General of California, Xavier Becerra. Each speak- er addressed California’s infrastructure needs, housing crisis, and the critical role construction plays in building the state’s future. Teir participation underscored the importance of AGC of California’s work in connecting policymakers directly with industry leaders. AGC of California members also

gathered for the State Board Meeting, Legislative Reception, and PAC dinner, where they had informal opportunities to connect with legislators from both sides of the aisle. Lawmakers including Assemblymembers Davies, Hoover, and

Patterson, and Senators Cabaldon, Cor- tese, and Umberg joined members for candid conversations on how to support a robust, skilled construction workforce and advance sustainable, cost-effective project delivery. On May 7, members walked to the

Capitol Annex swing space to meet di- rectly with lawmakers and their staff. Tese visits focused on AGC of California’s 2025 legislative priorities: ensuring fair- ness and accountability in construction contracts, accelerating project delivery, improving infrastructure funding, sup- porting workforce development, and advancing practical sustainability and safety standards.
