With the student section on top of the court, state champion- and the hometown fans packing the gym, Fatima High School has a unique home-court advantage.


Senior Matthew Robertson sees it, hears it, and feels it every time he steps on the Comets’ basketball court. “ I think we have the best home-court advantage in high school because of the respect people have for this program. Every home game there is a full crowd, and when we have a big play, they are all yelling. There is no better feeling because for all the hours you put in in practice that no one really sees, now you are showing the crowd what you can do when the lights are bright and the game is on the line.“

It’s a feeling that is familiar to the Robertson family. Matthew’s dad, Matt (1998 Fatima graduate), experienced it in his playing days. So did Mathew’s grandpa, Glenn (1968 Fatima graduate). And so did his uncles and several cousins. There’s been a Rob- ertson on about every basketball and baseball roster over the years. Matthew’s uncle, Ryan Robertson, is well respected as one of the best high school coaches in mid-Missouri. He makes players better at the game and, most of all, better teammates. At Fatima, they learn to play as one. “Ever since I was little, he has been a coach. What he has done for me and this team is giving us all the extra open gyms and scrimmaging and individual work to make us better players and teammates. He has earned respect from every former player and
