s pastors and leaders, we all want to continue to grow, both personally and professionally. churches. May I suggest that you consider participating in our Lampstand Conference? At Lampstand you will be challenged to grow personally through seminars such as the “Char- acter of the Christian Leader” and “The Leader’s Spiritual Life.” You will be challenged to grow professionally as well with talks on “The Primacy of Preaching”, “The Wise Leader”, and “Devel- oping Leaders.” The lampstand image harkens back to the biblical idea of God’s presence in the midst of his people. “Then I said to him, ‘What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?’” (Zech. 4:11). It is God’s presence that we most need for renewal and continuing faithfulness. The conference, founded by Dr. Harry Reeder, originally as Embers to Flames, is built on a sol- idly biblical philosophy of ministry, not the latest church fads. Dr. Reeder was used by God to start and to grow several effective reformed churches. Along the way he developed a passion to help pastors lead more biblically and effectively. Dr. Reeder gave his time generously to pastors in need, who were either learning the ropes of ministry or struggling with problems. I know the value of mentor and friend for many years. He was a pastor wholly committed to seeking the Kingdom of God foremost (Matt. 6:33). Dr. Reeder’s heart for pastors, love of the Church, and commitment to the Bible live on in the Lampstand team he assembled. These men have a deep desire to help pastors grow in their walk reformed pastors who have led churches for decades, having seen God supply answers to many problems that you may now face. The Lampstand Conference does not offer a prescribed program for how to grow a church in one particular mold. Rather, the pastors teaching this conference offer biblical principles of leadership and church health, touching on the most important areas in the life of the church and in your life.
A
general sessions for all, and then three special- ized tracks. The three tracks are Church Plant- ing, Church Revitalization, and Church Ac- celeration. It is probably clear to you whether Planting or Church Revitalization, however, the Church Acceleration track may need some explanation. Church Acceleration is designed for those churches that are essentially healthy but need help moving ahead by becoming more intentional about developing leaders and ministry structures. The conference encourages pastors to bring a team of leaders with them. Together the pastor and key leaders will learn, grow, and plan for how to see their church become even more healthy.
The Lampstand Conference is designed so that you leave with an initial plan on what steps to take next in your pastoral leadership as well as how your church can grow toward even greater health. After the Lampstand Con- ference, the ministry of Lampstand also offers your plan for your church.
