Resolution in Loving Memory of Thomas Aiken McKeown
“He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.” 56r56 Acts 11:24
Whereas, Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Blackstock, South Carolina, and the broader ARP denomination, including Catawba Presbytery and the General Synod of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, lost a valued member and leader on December 2, 2024 with the passing of Thomas Aiken McKeown from this life; and
Whereas, Tommy was a lifelong member of Hopewell ARP Church. He was a gentle, kind man who loved the Lord and freely gave of his time and dedication as a deacon, elder and clerk of the Session as well as an active participant in Presbytery and Synod meetings; and
Whereas, Tommy, upon graduation from the University of South Carolina, worked with the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Hill, NC for his entire working adult life, as an engineer. He was an avid and lifetime South Carolina Gamecock fan; and
Whereas, Tommy found solace in the love of the Lord from his earliest days and endeavored to display an model Christian life. He was a loving husband, step-father, grandfather, and son who instilled in his family and all that knew him a unwavering commitment to the Lord and the same values of service to the church and community for the greater honor and glory of God. Each of us has been blessed by the presence of Tommy in our lives and in our congregation.
Therefore, be it resolved that we bow in humble submission to God’s perfect plan to gather us unto Himself when we have fulfilled our work on this earth and remind the family that one day we will be reunited with Tommy in joy and in the fullness of God’s mercy; and
Let it further be resolved that we offer our sincere thanks for the life of Thomas Aiken McKeown and offer our Christian sympathy to the family. A copy of this resolution will be kept in the church archives and a copy published in the ARP magazine.
Humbly submitted on this seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord 2025 by the officers and members of Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Blackstock, SC.
Thomas E. Mills, Clerk of the Session
