Wednesday Afternoon Business John Shearouse led the worship service from Psalm 21. Verses 1-2 bring Salvation.


The Lord uses this strength to save sinners. He alone can bring salvation. Verses 3-4, God is eager to bring salvation to his people. Verse 6 shows that God delights most in our mediator (God’s presence). We should not pretend to be someone we are not. Verse - nant people praising Him. Verses 1 and 13 are bookends of rejoicing. Shearouse closed in prayer, asking God to “work in us so that we have joy in the way of our Lord.” Business continued with Memorial #4, which did not pass. The memorial is written

Therefore, be it resolved that First Presbytery memorializes the General Synod of the ARPC to amend page 53 of the Manual of Authorities and Duties to add a sentence at the end of the Special Committees paragraph that reads, “Such committees shall be comprised of an equitable number of representatives from each Presbytery, barring circumstances dealing with allegations or investigations.” Memorial #5 was referred to Synod’s Minister and His Works. The memorial said,

dian Presbytery with a laying on of hands. Garison Taylor led the prayer. Retired Minister Allen Derrick said, “This was one of the most enjoyable Synod


meetings.” A special thank you to Bonclarken Conference Center and staff. Helene came


through in the fall, and you can hardly tell at all. Thanks to the staff, hip hip hooray! Chip Sherer quoted former President of Bonclarken Jim Brice, “It is a good day at Bonclarken when the grounds are full, it’s a beautiful day, and people are worshipping the Lord.” Reverence Rob Roy McGregor, Jr, made the motion to adjourn by saying, “May the God of peace give you peace and make you peacemakers until he returns.” The 221st General Synod of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church ad- journed at 3:40 pm with the singing of the Song of Unity.


Moderator/Vice Moderator Elect


Rev. Lee Shelnutt nominated Beard McAulay as Moderator Elect. He has served on the session of Huntersville ARP Church for 11 years. He has worked with him through tough pastoral matters. He is a Godly man. He is a graduate of West Point and was President of the West Point Glee Club. He served in Saudi Arabia and Iraq during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. “He served his country well,” Shelnutt said. He has great  grandfather served as Elders in the church. McAulay is an 8th-generation ARP. He leads meetings with wisdom, clarity, and even-handedness. He is a man of quiet wisdom, courage, and deep Biblical knowledge. He belongs to Jesus. Rev. Nick Napier seconded the nomination by saying he has seen him in action at the church. He has seen his service to Christ and his evident love for the sheep. McAulay accepted the nomination, saying, “I love the ARP, Bonclarken, Presbytery, and session meetings most of the time. I am willing to serve and count it as joy. I am humbled and honored.” McAulay nominated Rhett Carson as Vice Moderator Elect. He is a man who loves the Lord


 on the Presbytery level and Synod level. He knows parliamentary procedures as well. Rhett Car- son is the pastor of Pinecrest Presbyterian Church.
