he year 1996 might seem like a random year on the calendar. It is, in fact, just as random as any other year. However, it was 30 years ago that Jean Clair,
my lovely aunt, served as the first female chairperson of the OABA. That was a particularly memorable 1996 milestone for me personally but there were global, business, personal and historic highpoints for us all in 1996. As we begin a new year, it’s a time to consider how each of us will shape 2026. For instance, what would you like your business milestones to be?

January 3:
The first flip mobile phone went on sale. More than 60 million units of
the Motorola StarTAC were sold.
