IRU: What is the most meaningful or memorable experience you’ve had in your career and why? Kasbar: Te most meaningful experiences to me are when I see a diverse group of individuals coming- together from around the world and working in a coordinated, seamless fashion. And then proposing innovative ways to solve customers’ problems. We are a global company so it’s crossing time zones. It’s crossing disciplines. And it’s bringing things together. It’s like a symphony—everyone does their part. It’s extremely satisfying and gratifying to see that happen.
IRU: How do you handle failures or setbacks, and what lessons have you learned from those experiences? Kasbar: You certainly learn a lot more when you don’t hit the ball. When that happens, we gather and make sure that we understand what the learnings were, where we didn’t execute as well as we could have, and emerge a bit stronger. Failure is a tremendous opportunity. It forces teams to work together and to overcome. It makes us a stronger organization by overcoming these things. Tat’s a powerful lesson.
