KVMA Annual Business Meeting • September 23, 2023 Galt House - Louisville, KY
1. Meeting called to order by Dr. Dean-Hines. 2. Treasury report presented by Dr. Mirus. KVMA is in good financial standing and KVMA investments are in good financial standing.
3. Motion to approve minutes from the 2022 KVMA Annual Business Meeting as published in the news- letter by Dr. Doug Peterson. Second by Dr. Mark Smith. Motion carries.
4. Nomination Report for KVMA Executive Board positions presented by Dr. Dean-Hines. Dr. James Beckman presented as nomination for Vice President. Dr. Lauren Mirus presented as nomination for Secretary/Treasurer. Motion made by Dr. Steve Wills to approve nominations. Second by Dr. Eileen Kennedy. Motion carries.
5. 2024 Mid-America Veterinary Conference will be held September 12-15 in Lexington at the newly ren- ovated Central Bank Center. 2025 MAVC will also be held in Lexington.
6. Dr. Dean-Hines passes the gavel to Dr. Redmon. 7. Dr. Redmon presents remaining events associated with 2023 MAVC Conference. 8. Adjournment. Motion made by Dr. Steve Wills. Second by Dr. Sarah Frederick. Motion carries.
KVMA Executive Board Meeting • September 21-22, 2023 Galt House - Louisville, KY
1. Meeting called to order by Dr. Dean-Hines. 2. Attendees of meeting: Drs. Redmon, Martinez, Shoulders, Weber, Crowe, Rodgers, Smith, Chick, Ve- lasco, Dean-Hines, Cassone, McGlasson, King, Williams, Giesbrecht and Laster. Ms. Hamelback and Swim. Guests: Dr. Robert Knapp and Julia Crigler
3. Conflict of interest: none acknowledged. 4. Motion to approve minutes of the August meeting by Dr. Rodgers. Second by Dr. Chick. Motion carries.
5. Financial reports presented by Dr. Mirus. Reviewed income and expenses. Review of investments com- pared to previous year. KVMA remains in good financial standing.
6. New membership applications reviewed. Motion made by Dr. King to accept. Second motion made by Dr. Rodgers. Motion carries.
7. Update from Dr. Robert Knapp – District 5 AVMA Board of Directors representative. 8. Update from Commonwealth Alliance Lobbyists – Julia Crigler. Joint Agriculture Committee Hearing will be held on Tursday, October 19th.
9. KBVE Regulation Proposals – continue to accept public comments through September 30th. 10. Update from Dr. Martinez in reference to legislative happenings with Equine Dentistry and next steps. 11. Discussion of Murray State Veterinary School. Feasibility study is in the works. 12. Rural Veterinary Meeting discussion. Need to look at what the actual needs are and where. Rural vet meeting will take place Friday, September 22 at MAVC to discuss area shortage and possible solutions to fill the need and gap in Kentucky.
13. Drs. Redmon and Dean-Hines presented updates for the upcoming Mid-America Veterinary Conference. 14. Upcoming Board Meetings a. Board Retreat – January 19-20
15. MAVC Dates and Locations: a. 2024—Lexington—September 12-15 b. 2025—Lexington—September 25-29
