AVMA NEWS
AVMA and Disney’s ‘Critter Fixers’ team up to help high school students learn about careers in veterinary medicine.
Over the weekend of November 11-12, AVMA’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer Dr. Latonia
Craig had the opportunity to join Critter Fixers’ Vet for a Day event in Louisville, Kentucky.
Pre-vet students at Central High School were able to visit the Equine Medical Center at Churchill Downs, as well as Second Stride Farm to learn more about the equine veterinary industry.
Dr. Craig reported. “Yesterday was nothing short of AMAZING. We were able to connect some of Central High Schools Pre-Vet students in Louisville, KY with Dis- ney’s Critter Fixers to host a Vet for a Day event. It was epic!
Tanks to Critter Fixers, our day started with visiting the Equine Medical Center then we ate in the Millionaires Row and got see a couple of races at Churchill Downs. Te students were hype. Several became more interested in the Equine industry.
We ended our day at Second Stride Farm. Almost had me wanting to take a couple of horses home.”
Tank you Critter Fixers, Churchill Downs, Second Strides Farm and KVMA for taking the time and sharing your wisdom in my city to our kids. Tank you to AVMA for encouraging me to pour into part- nerships like these.”
