IN MEMORIAM DR. DAVID NEAL MASSIE


David “Doc” Neal Massie, DVM, 79, husband of Sondra Bollinger Massie, passed away on October 13, 2023 in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Massie was


born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 29, 1943, to the late Jay W. and Mary Daniel Massie.


He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.


David and his wife owned and operated Town & Country Veterinary Services in Frankfort for many years before retirement.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amee (David) Osbon, of Richmond, Melissa Massie, of Berea, grandson, Xavier Osbon, brother, Dr. Daniel (Tita) Massie, of South Carolina, nieces and nephews, Dr. Vaughn (Meg) Massie, Maria Massie and Dr. Natalie (Josh) Gregory. He was preceded in death by his nephew, David Massie.

IN MEMORIAM DR. JAMES “TED” CUNDIFF


James “Ted” Cundiff, DVM, was born March 4, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio and departed this life on November 20, 2023 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the son of the late James Lawrence and Lucy Eck-


man Cundiff of Beattyville. Dr. Cundiff is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Stamper Cundiff and two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth Cundiff, Karen Cundiff, and Ryan Reams, DVM all of Beattyville.


Dr. Cundiff attended the University of Kentucky and the Auburn University College of Veterinary Med- icine, graduating in 1968. A practicing veterinarian for 54 years, he served a large portion of central and eastern Kentucky. He was a 20-plus-year member of the Lee County Board of Education, serving most of those as Chairman of the Board. He was a member of the Lee County Board of Health for over twenty years and a member of the Jackson Energy Coop board for 17 years.


Other than his family and vet work, Dr. Cundiff’s other great passion was farming. An active farmer his entire life, he enjoyed working in hay, checking on and caring for his cattle, and just being involved in day- to-day farm operations. 
