In Memoriam Gil Price

Farewell My Friends It was beautiful As long as it lasted The journey of my life. I have no regrets Whatsoever said The pain I’ll leave behind. Those dear hearts Who love and care... And the strings pulling At the heart and soul... The strong arms That held me up When my own strength Let me down. At the turning of my life I came across Good friends, Friends who stood by me Even when time raced me by. Farewell, farewell My friends I smile and Bid you goodbye. No, shed no tears For I need them not All I need is your smile. If you feel sad Do think of me For that’s what I’ll like When you live in the hearts Of those you love Remember then You never die

—Farewell My Friends, Rabindranath Tagore (1861 - 1941)

Three Hundred of My Closest Friends

Most of you probably know by now that our WSCAI community has suffered the loss of one of our most engaged, most genuine, and most beloved people: Gil Price. For those of you who didn’t know Gil (and I am betting there are very, very few of you), he became involved in the community association industry after we at Barker Martin hired him in 2003 as our executive director. And that was that. I believe that Gil found his calling here. Potentially the community’s greatest extrovert, his energy never seemed to flag. His desire to meet people, to learn about people, and to engage with people as his authentic self never stopped. Long after Gil moved on from our firm, he was my go-to for intel about people and perspective on ideas in the industry. And while I am positive that many of you have “Gil” stories to tell that reveal the heart of Gil Price, these are just a few we have collected to help us say goodbye to our friend, Gil.
