Charles Schaefer Play Therapy Scholarship


During the 38th Annual APT International Conference General Session, Dr. Karine Schaefer and Dr. Eric Schaefer honored the legacy of their father, Charles E. Schaefer, PhD, RPT-S by announcing the creation of the Charles Schaefer Play Therapy Scholarship.


The Charles Schaefer Play Therapy Scholarship, sponsored by the Foundation for Play Therapy, supports individuals who plan to obtain the Registered Play TherapistTM (RPT) or School Based-Registered Play Therapist (SB-RPT) credential. Established this year to honor the late Charles E. Schaefer, PhD, RPT-S, co-founder of the Association for Play 


 Therapeutic Use of Child’s Play in 1976. Dr. Schaefer authored    
