BENEFITS TDSC.com, Powered By Henry Schein, Now Live H

enry Schein, Inc. and The Dentists Supply Company (TDSC)—the sup- ply affiliate of the Missouri Dental

Association—have formed a new entity to better serve state dental association members with an online-only option for purchasing dental supplies. TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein is now live and will continue to offer everyday low pricing for dental practices that prefer an online ordering experience. The agreement was announced on October 14, 2020 and completed on October 26, 2020.

“TDSC is a highly regarded, fast-growing company that nicely complements our exist- ing dental business, and we are delighted to have completed this partnership,” said Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein. “Our new alliance with TDSC expands the options available for dentists to do business with us. For customers who prefer an online- only ordering experience, we are now able to accommodate that through TDSC.com, with enhanced product and delivery offerings,” he said.

Launched in 2017 by CDA, TDSC serves members of all 50 state dental associations with an everyday low-price, online-only op- tion for purchasing dental supplies. Any mem- ber of a state dental association is eligible to purchase on TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein. Customers of the online-only service will now benefit from an expanded product portfolio, enhanced shipping, improved order fulfillment, and faster delivery backed by Henry Schein. In addition, Henry Schein plans to offer to TDSC customers a select set of branded consumable merchandise as well as Henry Schein corporate brand products.

“With the support of Henry Schein’s opera- tional expertise, TDSC is positioned well to accelerate our growth in the dynamic and highly competitive dental market,” said Burke Spielmann, General Manager of TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein.

What prompted this change? In early sum- mer, TDSC began exploring options to best position the company for the future. While the COVID-19 pandemic brought many chal- lenges, it also presented a unique opportunity to drive innovative thinking and re-imagine program strategies to better serve members. TDSC’s goal was to ensure long-term viability for the significant supply savings offered by TDSC while strengthening the overall shop- ping experience.

Will this change the mission of TDSC? No. TDSC.com was founded with a mission to serve members of organized dentistry with an everyday low-price, online option for obtain- ing dental supplies. Additionally, TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein, remains commit- ted to authorized sources—no gray market goods—for every single product.

Will pricing change? Aside from products that are experiencing significant price in- creases as a result of COVID-19’s impact on the marketplace, pricing will largely remain consistent. Over time, it is expected that Henry Schein’s buying power will benefit customers with even deeper discounts.

Will there be significant changes to the products offered through TDSC.com? Initially, there will not be significant changes. There will be some products that will no longer be available, but substitute/alternate

items will be added. Additionally, a selection of Henry Schein branded products will be added to the offering. Over time, the catalog will be optimized to ensure it is meeting the needs of TDSC.com shoppers.

How will this impact delivery time frames and reliability? The expectation is that deliv- ery time frames will improve with the stron- ger inventory position that is geographically dispersed across the Henry Schein distribu- tion centers.

Will TDSC maintain the process of a trial period for nonmembers with the require- ment to join organize dentistry to continue receiving the discount? Yes, TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein will remain a benefit for members of organized dentistry. The trial period has been a proven tactic for nonmem- bers to sample savings and for state asso- ciations to recruit more non-members into associations around the country.

If a member wants their state association to get credit for their purchases on TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein, what do they need to do? They need to create an account and place their orders through TDSC.com. That will allow them to be included in the calcula- tions for incentives for their state.

How does this impact the MDA’s affiliation agreement? State dental association support has been critical in the success of TDSC.com to date. In collaboration with the team at Henry Schein, all want to ensure the partner- ship provides maximum value to members and state associations. Senior leaders from the new organization will work with state as- sociations to outline the details of a financial remuneration plan, which will be realized sooner than anticipated under current affilia- tion agreements.

Who owns TDSC? Henry Schein will be the majority owner with CDA owning an inter- est in the newly formed operating company TDSC, Inc.
